A season highlight
Changing Seasons was our multi-genre performance at Fairfield Halls that reimagined Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons for the modern world, reflecting on the climate emergency through music, dance, poetry and film.
Taking inspiration from the environmental themes in Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, we expanded Vivaldi’s original, creating an event that was shaped through rich collaboration with local arts groups including Subrang Arts, Queer Croydon, Club Soda, the local Music Education Hub – Croydon Music & Arts – and Croydon poet Jeremiah Brown.
After this event, each commissioning partner hosted a concert within their communities that featured their new work

36 years as Croydon’s Resident Orchestra
In that time, we’ve remained committed to pioneering cross-cultural and community-focused projects that keep orchestral music alive in our home borough and expand, supported by our local parters and advisory groups.
Showcasing local talent
As part of Changing Seasons, we held a vibrant community showcase in the foyer of Fairfield Halls which featured 18 local performance groups. It was a joyful celebration of the diversity and creativity in our borough.
Outside the concert hall
Our pop-up performances saw orchestral music being beyond traditional spaces. At Crisis Skylight Croydon, we performed for people experiencing homelessness, offering moments of connection and joy through music. We also brightened up the evening commute with some music at East Croydon Station.
I have never had the chance to hear this music before; I didn't event know that I liked it. And sitting there, I just felt transported.Crisis Skylight Croydon member

Our youngest audience members went barking-mad for our animal-themed children’s concert, beautifully narrated by Polly Ives and brought to life with projected illustrations. We also celebrated the festive season in style with our big and bold brass ensemble, joined side-by-side with students from Croydon Music & Arts.
Learning and participation
We enjoyed bringing our music to young people across Croydon and the South East. We brought GCSE music set works to life through workshops and concerts which featured the music from the syllabus, helping to boost students’ confidence and understanding. Our side-by-side sessions saw students from Croydon Music & Arts rehearse and perform alongside our musicians. We also took our music to primary schools through our Inspire workshops.
We didn’t forget about the teachers, either. We ran professional development sessions for early-career primary and SEN/D teachers as a response to the critical gap in teacher training for music delivery.
