Piano Explored – Cramer

We start our Christmas marathon on 4 December with the next instalment of Piano Explored. Whilst the programme isn’t technically Christmassy, Howard Shelley will be showcasing Cramer’s supremely crafted Piano Concerto No.4, which we think has all the delights of an early Christmas present. Our annual tradition of free Christmas cake for all Piano Explored concert goers continues this year, with not one, but TWO enormous cakes to satisfy the ever increasing popularity of this lunchtime series. A Classic Christmas

St John the Evangelist

On Friday 13 December we’re bringing the festivities to Upper Norwood. Join us for an evening full of choirs, a brass band and all your favourite Christmas carols. The programme includes all the Christmas classics such as The Nutcracker, Sleigh Ride and ‘Walking in the Air’ from The Snowman, as well as a performance of ‘Only You’, a song written especially for the occasion by Michael Omer in collaboration with the Crisis Skylight Croydon songwriters group. Tickets for this concert are flying off the shelves, so make sure you book yours soon to avoid missing out. Tickets £5-£23

Charles Dickens – A Christmas Carol 

Saturday 14 December, 4pm & 8pm

Next up is a magical retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on 14 December. In this brand-new adaptation, actor Tama Matheson breathes fresh life into Dickens, who takes to the stage to tell his moving tale of Scrooge, Marley, Tiny Tim and all those  Christmas  ghosts, accompanied by an atmospheric soundscape of  carols performed by Trinity Chamber Choir and a piano trio from the London Mozart Players. With a sold out show at the Royal Albert Hall, we’ve got two other performances for you to choose from at Fairfield Halls – 4pm & 8pm on 14 December. Tickets £15

The Snowman (live-to-picture) & The Nutcracker

Any finally, the pièce de résistance of our Christmas showcase, Raymond Briggs’ timeless classic The Snowman & a retelling of The Nutcracker at Fairfield Halls on Monday 23 December. Performed live-to-picture, bring the whole family to see this iconic animated film with music by Howard Blake, like you’ve never experienced it before. The programme also includes a magical retelling in words and music of Hoffman’s original fairy tale The Nutcracker.
