Social Inclusion
We work hard as an orchestra to make sure our work reaches people from every section of our community and brings together those who may be on the fringes.

When COVID hit the UK and we were forced into lockdown, residents and staff across the country found themselves completely cut off from their loved ones and communities.
To help them try to maintain a sense of connection, we launched LMP Reach, a programme of online concerts created specifically for those living in care homes and other vulnerable groups who may not have had access to community activities otherwise. This project built on previous work delivering programmes to care homes in person, including intergenerational projects to unite people of all ages.
For members of our community experiencing homelessness, participating in everyday community activities is a real challenge. The combination of financial constraints and social barriers such as not knowing if you will ‘fit in’ or be welcomed mean that these people often don’t get to enjoy concerts and performances even when they’re free of charge.
Over the past few years, we have worked on numerous songwriting projects with members of Crisis Skylight in Croydon, enabling them to be at the heart of annual community events such as our Christmas Concert. These types of activities are vital in empowering people to not only be included, but also to lead and shape work using their talents.
