With a diverse and multicultural audience locally and globally, we take very seriously the need to ensure that our work is reflective of the audiences that we seek to serve, cutting across the intersections of race, gender, wealth and education.
Forging collaborations and partnerships that enable us to create new, exciting work that reaches different audiences will help us to cut through, innovate and ensure that our work remains relevant.
One recent example of this is the Croydon Voices Remixed project which has focused on creating cross-genre and cross-disciplinary compositions which will form part of an ‘Oratorio of Hope’ – a new commission which builds towards our work in preparation for Croydon Borough of Culture in 2023. Building on our performances at Croydon Pride, LMP again teamed up with composer Fiona Brice and Afrobeats artist Silvastone to work with Year 10 students from Harris Academy Crystal Palace.
Over the course of six workshops, Fiona and Silvastone worked with the young people to create their own music that embraced the fusion of Classical and Afrobeats styles, using music technology to write tracks and bringing it to life with an LMP string quintet.
